Happy New Year! Prosit Neujahr!
It’s a new year. First page in the “2014” book of our lives. How did you spend yours?
I had my neighbors over and we made Korean food. Mmmm, mmmm! We do love our Korean food, haha. We made fresh rice cakes for Tteokbokki, grilled samgyeopsal (sliced pork belly – uncured bacon), gamja jorim (braised potatoes), sigeumchi namul (spinach), pajeon (veggie pancake) and of course my favorite gyeranjjim (steamed egg soup).
Pork belly is very inexpensive. I got about a pound from the commissary for $2.37. I went ahead and bought another package of over a pound to throw in the freezer for a rainy day. Korean food is so easy. The most basic recipes and it takes no time. Try it out!
I hope 2014 brings much joy and love to every one of you. Let’s make it great!!
